IATF 16949 recertification successfully completed

We are pleased to announce that Messingwerk Plettenberg has once again successfully passed recertification to IATF 16949:2016 by TÜV Nord. The renewed certificate confirms the high quality standards and process reliability that our customers – particularly in the automotive supply chain – expect from a manufacturer of brass precision strip and high-frequency welded brass tube.

What IATF 16949 means for you

IATF 16949 is the globally recognised quality management standard of the automotive industry. Building on ISO 9001, it places particular demands on defect prevention, risk management, continuous improvement and the control of every process along the production chain. For you as a customer, this means documented, audited processes from melting to dispatch, complete traceability of every coil and spool, and a supplier that meets the requirements of automotive OEMs and tier-1 suppliers.

Our certifications at a glance

Our integrated management system covers quality, environment and energy. All certificates are issued and regularly audited by TÜV Nord. Messingwerk Plettenberg holds the following certificates:

ISO 14001 and ISO 50001: sustainable brass production

Environmental and energy management are firmly embedded in our production. Under ISO 14001 we systematically reduce the environmental impact of our processes; under ISO 50001 we continuously improve the energy efficiency of our foundry, rolling mill and tube mill. Two examples: production scrap is taken back and re-melted in our own foundry in a closed material loop, and our vertical bright annealing furnace with a hydrogen protective atmosphere eliminates degreasing and pickling entirely, saving energy and around 90 percent of the chemicals previously required.

Certificates are not an end in themselves for us. They document a way of working that we have practised for decades: quality management and a culture of continuous improvement in every area of the company.
